Katie Lever has been Chief Legal Officer or General Counsel to some of the gaming industry’s most influential operators and suppliers. In these positions, Katie has been responsible for driving global, complex strategies for the entry of existing businesses into new markets as well as structuring new business lines to capitalize on emerging and expanding legalized opportunities.  Her more than 25 years of legal, strategic and M&A experience is expansive, including domestic and international experience in small and mid-capitalized acquisitions, large public company IPOs and mergers, new market growth opportunities, and emerging market opportunities.

Most recently, Katie created the foundational structure for the legal, regulatory and compliance functions at Drew Las Vegas, a projected $4B integrated resort and casino destination, where she was Chief Legal Counsel. She joined Drew Las Vegas after being the opening General Counsel and EVP at Baha Mar, a luxury resort in The Bahamas, which has been named one of the top resorts in the world, where she was developed the legal, risk management, compliance, and AML requirements to open and operate and the casino and hospitality functions.  In her role of General Counsel and EVP of Scientific Games, she was responsible for all legal matters related to its multi-faceted operations; she joined the company through the acquisition of Bally Technologies, Inc., where she was General Counsel and SVP of Legal and Regulatory Affairs; she joined that company through the acquisition of SHFL entertainment, Inc., where she was General Counsel and EVP. Katie spearheaded the transformative legal strategy for the $1.3B acquisition of SHFL entertainment by Bally Technologies, and, twelve months later, the $5.3B acquisition of Bally Technologies by Scientific Games.  Katie was the first General Counsel and EVP of Global Cash Access (now Everi) and was previously a Partner with the Las Vegas law firm Schreck Brignone (now Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck), where she represented some of the gaming industry’s largest companies. Katie recently brought together her experience in FinTech, corporate law, and risk management in her role as a Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of the GBank Financial Holdings Inc., the parent company of Bank of George, which has been named by S&P as one of the top three community banks in the U.S. with assets under $3B.

Katie is a passionate champion of corporate social responsibility and diversity and is a Board member of Global Gaming Women, a committee member of the William Hill USA Charitable Foundation, and Chairwoman of Go Red for Women of Southern Nevada. She is also deeply committed to the gaming industry and is a past-President and Counselor of the International Association of Gaming Advisors, as well as a Member of the UNLV Boyd School of Law Gaming Advisory Board, and is a frequent speaker at conferences world-wide on a topics that range from biometrics to compliance to ESG investment.
