Scholarship Committee

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for reviewing all submitted scholarship applications to attend GGW-sponsorsed and supported educational events. Using an impartial scoring system, the committee selects the top-scoring applicants and provides them with scholarships that cover each conference's participation fees.


 

Cassie Stratford currently serves as Vice President of Legal Affairs and Assistant General Counsel for Boyd Gaming Corporation, a publicly traded hotel/casino operator with properties throughout the United States.  Since joining Boyd Gaming Corporation in 2012, Ms. Stratford has been involved in a number of functions within the legal department, including contract drafting, negotiation and process management, information technology matters, data security initiatives, marketing and operational advisory matters, human resources, premises liability and complex litigation, and a wide variety of general legal advisory matters.  Prior to joining Boyd Gaming Corporation, Ms. Stratford was a commercial litigation attorney in the Las Vegas office of Snell & Wilmer L.L.P.  While at Snell and Wilmer, Ms. Stratford served a variety of business clients in all stages of litigation, with a primary focus on financial services clients. Ms. Stratford received her bachelor’s degree in Government from Georgetown University, while working part time for a national political campaign consulting firm in Washington DC.  Ms. Stratford received her Juris Doctor from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, where she has also served as an Adjunct Professor, teaching an upper level legal writing course entitled “Transaction Drafting”.  In addition to her involvement with Global Gaming Women, Ms. Stratford continues to be involved in Georgetown and UNLV Law alumni programs, serves as a regular volunteer for the Ask-a-Lawyer program through the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and is involved in various other community organizations.


Helen MacMillan Helen MacMillan is the Founder & Principal Advisor for All-In Gaming & Hospitality Group Inc. and a Founder and Partner of Play the Field. An experienced leader and highly driven professional, she is known for bringing people and ideas together, inspiring creative thinking and cutting-edge approaches to doing business. Throughout her more than 25-year career, Helen has worked in various industries including; gaming and hospitality, economic development, advertising and client services, public relations, automotive and fashion. During her casino industry career, working across Canada, she has had influential involvement in all areas of the corporate structure including facility operations and management, marketing, finance, security and compliance, government relations, human resources, and labour relations. Helen is a sought-after public speaker and coach. Through All-In, an innovative consultant group, Helen advises clients on many topics including organizational culture, customer-centric strategies, women in leadership, social responsibility and customer loyalty programs – to name a few. She is a founding partner of Play the Field, an enterprise solution, created to help casinos to attract and retain qualified new customers. Helen also established The Women of Canadian Gaming in 2016 to provide women with a forum to support and celebrate successes in their various roles within the industry.

Cari Hernandez joined the JLT team in January 2016 as a Senior Vice President in the Entertainment and Hospitality Practice. Cari services insurance and risk management programs for organizations in the hospitality and entertainment industry, specifically large venues, special events, concerts, festivals and stage show productions as well as hotel casino/ hospitality clients. Her primary duties are to coordinate team resources and efforts bringing the best and the brightest to the forefront in order to meet and exceed the transition and renewal timelines established as well as adhere to the agreed upon client service plans.


  Whitney Mulaj began her career in the Hospitality Industry with Marriott International where she conducted a summer internship that would later cultivate her future career path. After graduation, she partnered with Hilton International where she completed a Management In Training Program.  Upon completion of this opportunity, she later assumed management roles as the Executive Director of Housekeeping and Director of Guest Services.  In 2010, Whitney joined Wynn Las Vegas Hotel & Casino where she would eventually become the Assistant Director of Hotel Operations. In this role, she oversees the Front Office and Call Center Operations Teams, and is directly responsible for ensuring the luxury and consistency of the service experience Wynn prides itself on. Whitney Mulaj is a graduate of the Southern Utah University School of Business. She majored in Hotel, Resort, and Hospitality Management in her undergraduate and then completed her Master’s of Business Administration. Whitney and her husband, Ervin, reside with their young son in Las Vegas.


Michelle Stevenson currently serves as the Vice President / Corporate Compliance Officer at Golden Entertainment, Inc. (“GEI”), a publicly traded gaming company with operations in several jurisdictions within the United States. In this role, she oversees the regulatory environment of the company, including gaming and federal anti-money laundering regulations. Prior to joining GEI, Michelle held compliance positions with Penn National Gaming, Inc., Tropicana Entertainment, Inc. and William Hill US. She also served many years with a Biloxi, MS gaming law firm as a paralegal and firm manager. While at Penn National Gaming, Michelle played an integral role in implementing new policies, procedures and gaming system installations at Tropicana Las Vegas. Michelle has extensive knowledge in opening casinos, licensure, developing compliance programs and working directly with gaming officials to implement corporate compliance charters. She is knowledgeable of business management principles and is recognized for being proactive to developments in the compliance regulatory environment. Michelle graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and completed a Masters of Business Administration degree with concentrations in General Management and Finance from DeVry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management. She participated in teaching an AML Boot Camp at UNLV’s International Center for Gaming Regulation and currently sits on the Scholarship Sub-Committee of Global Gaming Women’s Education Committee.
